Congratulations to Yanni Raymond for winning the Peabody competition of the 2015 National Geographic Bee, and also to Cordell Smith for being the first runner up!  Thousands of schools around the U.S. are participating in the 2015 Bee.  The school champions, including Yanni, will take a written test to qualify as one of the top 100 scorers in Virginia.  If eligible, he will have the opportunity to compete in the state Bee on March 27, 2015.  The state winners participate in the national championship in Washington, D.C. May 11-13 where the first place winner receives a $50,000 college scholarship and other prizes including a trip to the Galapagos Islands.  The national finals will be shown on television May 13.  Our best wishes go to Yanni!
