OUR CAMPUS

Peabody School is located just minutes from downtown Charlottesville, off Avon St. Extended, near the Mill Creek and Foxcroft neighborhoods.

The campus sits on more than five acres, providing outdoor areas for our community, including sports fields, two playgrounds, an outdoor classroom, and a much-beloved large boulder for climbing (and a ‘home base’ for many games). The land borders a creek that provides great adventures and a natural science lab for our students who are studying watersheds and biology.

The buildings on campus include a two-story LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) structure, which houses the Lower School. This building provides top-notch academic space for our students, including our art studio, environmental science laboratory, and our reading library, filled with books to support academic learning and reading for pleasure at home.

In 2014, Peabody School completed the Batten Building, a state-of-the-art home for our Middle School, gymnasium, performing arts space, and science lab for Chemistry, Physics, and Biology classes. The building is named in honor of Dorothy Batten, a long-time Peabody parent, volunteer, philanthropist, and Board member, who was instrumental in the school’s progress and development.

In the fall of 2020, Peabody opened the North Wing –  the final phase of a 25-year vision for the school.  This building houses our Early Learning center, with PreK and Kindergarten classes co-located in the same wing.  Our spacious and light-filled Music Studio includes sound-proof practice rooms for our ambitious musicians, and our new technology lab and Maker Space allows our future engineers nearly double the space for their inventions.  A new outdoor sport court rounds out the construction, to give all our students a safe, recreational option for recess and outdoor physical education.

We welcome you to come see our campus for yourself!
