To kick off our Earth Day activities, the Conservation Education Coordinator from the Department of Forestry Ellen Powell visited Peabody to announce that Peabody has officially been certified as a Green School!
We are so proud of our students and teachers who have spearheaded so many amazing projects over the past many years to make our school a more environmentally friendly place to learn, work, and play.  Some highlights include:
  • our schoolyard garden
  • planting native plants
  • invasive species removal
  • our recycling and composting system
  • LED lights in most of the school
  • solar panels so our school is nearing a net-zero carbon footprint
  • schoolwide student “Green Team”
  • “No Plastics” campaign
  • 2019 Charlottesville Better Business Bureau winners
  • 2020 Lobby Day at the Virginia General Assembly
  • writing and speaking with our local Board of Supervisors
