Peabody School was once again a large part of the Neighbors 4 Neighbors school food drive that took place in April and included many public and private schools around the area.  All food donations will feed clients served by 45 of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank’s (BRAFB) partner pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in the Thomas Jefferson area. This includes the city of Charlottesville, and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Greene, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock.  This area food drive is led by Ryleigh Katstra, a 9th grade Albemarle High School student and our sixth grade students organized the Peabody part.

Peabody collected 443 pounds of food, which will provide many meals for a large number of families in our area! In addition, Peabody came in 2nd place out of all the K – 8 schools! The entire drive collectively brought in 6,145 pounds of food during the month of March, which will provide thousands of meals to families in the Thomas Jefferson service area! Thank you to the Peabody community for coming together to help eradicate hunger. Thank you to the 6th grade class for helping spread the word about hunger in our area. And a special shout out to Ms. Lastinger’s class who had the highest level of participation!
