Ms. Gottschalk’s third grade class traveled to Virginia’s  Natural Bridge yesterday. The students kicked off their Native American studies unit with a tour of the recreated Monacan village.  Their tour guide, a Monacan, taught them some Monacan words, too.  The class was also treated to a presentation about the geology and history of the bridge,  which was once owned by Thomas Jefferson.  The class learned about the controversy over whether or not George Washington actually carved his initials on the bridge. They can tell you all about it! The students spent the day exploring nature and history and enjoying the beautiful weather!
