After graduating from Peabody, I attended Albemarle High School, where I swam on the swim team and played tennis. My last two years, I was captain of the tennis team, including one year when we played through to the State Tournament. I was in the National Honor Society in high school along with a number of other honor societies and organizations. I graduated in the top 10 percent of my class and then went on to the University of Virginia as an Echols Scholar.

At UVa I majored in history and linguistics while serving three years as coxswain on the rowing team. Desiring to enter into the education field, I interned with an organization that partnered native English speakers up with international graduate students to help them with their conversational skills. During 4th Year, I also worked on a history radio show that is broadcast on NPR stations across the country and runs out of Charlottesville called “Backstory” with theAmerican History Guys.

I graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with distinction and received the Jettie Hill Memorial Award, given to the graduating student-athlete with the highest four-year GPA at The University.

Wanting to follow in my mother’s footsteps as an educator, I applied and was accepted toTeach For America. I am now in my second year teaching high school Geometry at El Dorado High School in Arkansas.
