The foundation of a great education starts at our earliest years, and our Lower School serves children in grades Kindergarten through five. We recognize that not all students learn the same way or at the same pace, and through a differentiated curriculum, we tailor our instruction to provide an optimal learning environment.
Teachers take into account students’ learning styles, readiness, interests, and motivation when planning and teaching differentiated lessons. Classes are small, so that teachers can provide individual and small group instruction, and teachers at each grade level systematically build on what students have learned in the grade before. Constant emphasis is also placed on the social and emotional needs of the children. Our students take ownership for their learning and realize they learn as much from one another as they do from their teachers. They exhibit a love of learning and a curiosity about the world around them that is nurtured throughout their years at Peabody. Our Lower School students gain independence and a sense of self-direction, and when they move on to Middle School, they are well on their way to being lifelong learners.
