Our Campus

Peabody School is located just minutes from Downtown Charlottesville on Avon St. Extended.  Our campus provides top-notch academic space for our students, including a fully equipped computer lab with desktops and laptops available for use throughout the school, as well as music and science equipment to support our students and the curriculum. Our library offers students books and multimedia resources to support academic learning and reading for pleasure at home.

The campus sits on more than five acres, providing vast outdoor areas for our community, including sports fields, a basketball/tennis court, a playground, and a much beloved large boulder for climbing (and a ‘home base’ for many games). The land borders a creek that provides great adventures and a natural science lab for our students who are studying watersheds and biology.

Peabody opened its doors in a rented space on Angus Road in 1994, and we purchased and moved to our current Stoney Ridge facility in 1997. The school began as four modular structures, subsequently expanded with a middle school wing, and further expanded as we replaced two of the four structures with a two-story LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) lower school wing in 2006.
