The Peabody 8th Grade Government Class was pleased to welcome two guest speakers in November. Mr. Khizr Muazzam Khan is Pakistani American and the father of United States Army Captain Humayun Khan, who was killed in 2004 during the Iraq War. He and his wife received international attention following a speech at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, and spoke to students about the importance of the U.S. Constitution. Mr. Khan, who holds degrees from Punjab University and Harvard Law School, is an attorney based in New York City, where he works in immigration and international business law.

Dr. Alton Gold Keel Jr. served as the Acting National Security Adviser for President Ronald Reagan and was the United States Ambassador to NATO under two Presidents during two critical NATO Summits.  He received his B.S and Ph.D from the University of Virginia,  and was appointed Executive Director of the Rogers Commission that investigated the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
